New SFM Curriculum

Accredited by the California State Fire Marshal's Office

  • Academy Dates: January 19, 2016 to May 13, 2016
  • Application Date:November 9 to November 20, 2015
  • Orientation Date: January 16, 2016

Certification:  Conforms to standards for certification by the California State Board of Fire Service.  Upon successful completion, the student is eligible for certification as an EMT-I and is academically qualified for state certification as a Firefighter1.  Students completing the program are still required to complete either one-year as a volunteer firefighter or six months as a paid firefighter with a California fire department to be certified as a Firefighter I.  Students will be required to take all portions of the Firefighter I Academy even though they may be EMT I certified. 


  1. Students must be 18 years old by completion of Fire Academy
  2. FIRTC 1 - Fire Protection Organization (required)
  3. FIRTC 3 - Fire Protection Equipment and Systems (recommended only)
  4. Public Safety First Aid/CPR (California Health/Safety Code 1797, Section 182)

Orientation Date:     January 16, 2016

  • Mandatory Attendance; Civilian Attire (business casual)
  • No parking decal required after 6 p.m. or during weekends 

Academy Dates: January 19 to May 13, 2016
Academy is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
